Progress and Equity: Solutions for a Better Canada

We turn inspiring ideas into tangible results for a better world.

What we do

Progress and Equity (P&E) is a Canadian nonprofit organization that creates practical solutions to address society’s biggest challenges.

We collaborate with funders and a national network of partners to produce pragmatic, measurable ways for individuals, governments, businesses and nonprofits to contribute to a better world, always taking our direction from the people and communities we serve.

Change through compassionate, sustainable action. That’s our jam.

Why we do It

A fair chance – That’s all most people want. A chance to show what we achieve. A chance to contribute in a meaningful way. A chance to give our kids a better life.

An opportunity to set the trajectory of our lives on our terms.

To get that chance, we need safe housing, fair employment, quality food, affordable education, a sense of community, accessible healthcare or security for ourselves and our loved ones. That’s where P&E comes in.

Progress and Equity exists because we believe everyone deserves a chance to live their best life, safely and in dignity.

Give it to Marc.

He’ll get it done.

Our Founder and Principal Investigator, Marc Hull-Jacquin, MA, MSM, is an award-winning social justice leader with +25 years of varied experience in government, corporate for profit, nonprofit and political spheres. Where others talk about a brighter future, Marc makes them happen, bringing great ideas to life for a more just, more compassionate Canada.
Seeing a critical gap in support for women experiencing abuse, Marc developed the world’s first free moving service for survivors. Since 2016, Shelter Movers has moved over 10,000 women and children in communities across the country.
Marc’s visionary work has received numerous accolades, including the YMCA Peace Medal, the Governor General’s Meritorious Service Medal and the International Red Cross’ Red Social Innovation. Marc speaks frequently on topics surrounding gender-based violence, male allyship, nonprofit leadership and how to get great ideas off the ground. In 2026, he shared his inspiring story at TEDx.

Marc holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Ottawa. He lives in Toronto, Canada with his wife, Meghan, and their three lively children.
